The Challenge.
ACS was appointed by LCM Group to deliver the full civils package for a new 22,905m² truck stop facility at the busy Heywood Distribution Park — one of the North West’s largest logistics hubs.
The site required a complete ground transformation, including bulk earthworks, drainage, and robust infrastructure capable of handling heavy commercial vehicle traffic, while also preparing the facility for advanced lighting, security, and data systems.
Our Solution.
ACS successfully delivered all core structural and infrastructure works to the highest standards, within the tight 8-month programme.
Scope of Works:
- Bulk Earthworks:
- Managed the removal of 20,000+ tonnes of spoil
- Replaced with imported stone to establish a stable platform for construction
- Drainage Infrastructure:
- Designed and constructed a new system including a specialist attenuation tank
- Installed a pumping chamber to manage surface water discharge
- Civils & RC Works:
- Installation of reinforced concrete slabs across the site
- Created a durable external floor slab suitable for high-volume truck movements
- Ducting Installation:
- Installed 1,500 linear metres of ducting for site-wide lighting, data, and security systems
Careful coordination and experienced on-site leadership ensured that the project progressed seamlessly, even in the face of logistical complexities typical of large-scale transport infrastructure schemes.
The Result.
ACS handed over the project on time and to a high specification, delivering long-term operational value to both LCM Group and the site’s end users.
