Hull University | VINCI Construction.

Challenge.

This project involved civils for the student accommodation at Hull University. As part of the work, ACS was required to install an attenuation tank at 6m deep. The high water table in the Hull area meant we had to install a well point dewatering system in order to manage the control of water ingress.

Solution.

Works involved construction as part of 9 new residential blocks at the University of Hull. This was to form their West Campus Residences Project (WCRP) and provided approximately 1450 new self-catering bed spaces. Our construction work included:

  • Foundations
  • RC slabs
  • Multi-service trenches
  • Ducting
  • FW & SW drainage network
  • Attenuation
  • Kerbing and edging to footpaths, external paving and the car park

The Scheme is being delivered by Vinci Construction for their client University Partnerships Programme (UPP), who will manage the properties on behalf of the University of Hull.

We worked closely with the client to come up with a solution to ensure Phase 1 was a seamless operation. To achieve this, we had to procure and deploy additional gangs to accelerate works on areas of external paving and at other locations across the site.

Progress.
