Project update: Fastned UK charging hubs

Feb 28, 2022Latest News

We are delighted that our latest project for Fastned at Barnard Castle has officially opened. We are now busy delivering the Fastned station at the Energy Superhub Oxford, which is soon to be the UK’s largest public EV charging hub.

In 2019 we were appointed as the civil engineering and construction partner for Fastned UK. Fastned is building a pan-European network of superfast charging stations which all electric cars can use to charge.

The Fastned Energy Superhub Oxford will have up to 14 fast chargers, where electric vehicles can charge simultaneously with speeds of up to 300 kW. The station is part of the bigger Energy Superhub Oxford developed together with Pivot Power, Oxford City Council & Wenea. The Energy Superhub is located on Oxford’s ring road and integrates with the Redbridge Park and Ride facility. The hub is due to open at the end of 2022.

With the share of fully electric vehicles (newly registered cars in the UK) growing from 1.7% in 2019 to 6.6% in 2020, there is still limited charging infrastructure coverage. Fastned’s important addition of charging infrastructure is helping to meet the rapid and continuous increase in electric cars.
