Meet our new Degree Apprentice Quantity Surveyor, Ciaran Boyle. We caught up with Ciaran about his time at ACS so far and how he has found things since we welcomed him on board – take a look at our Q&A below.
Hi Ciaran, tell us about your role at ACS.
Currently, I’m working as a Degree Apprentice Quantity Surveyor at ACS. This role allows me to gain valuable hands-on experience in the workplace while studying towards my degree at the same time. It’s a great balance of learning on the job and in the classroom, which is setting me up well for my future career.
What do you think you will enjoy most about your apprenticeship?
I think what I’ll enjoy most is getting out on site and seeing first-hand the progress ACS makes over time. Watching a project evolve from start to finish and knowing that I’ve had an influence on that journey, is something I’m really looking forward to.
Why did you want to work at ACS?
I had the opportunity to do some work experience with ACS, and after seeing the key values that the business is built on, I knew it was where I wanted to work. Those values create a working environment that’s both enjoyable and driven, making it a great place to be.
How have you found your time at ACS so far?
So far, my time at ACS has been really educational. I’ve learned a lot about Quantity Surveying in a short period, as well as gaining a deeper understanding of the company’s values and future goals. Everyone at ACS has been incredibly supportive, helping me learn quickly and feel like part of the team from day one.
Where will your apprenticeship take you next?
I’m hoping that completing this apprenticeship will give me the knowledge and qualifications I need to grow my experience and further my career as a Quantity Surveyor with ACS.
What do you like doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I’m passionate about attending Manchester United matches and getting involved in any sport I can. I also make time to regularly go to the gym to stay fit and love being outdoors, exploring new places and experiencing new things whenever I get the chance.
