Our estimator, Sam Dexter, has been selected to play for Team England Lacrosse at this year’s 2023 World Lacrosse Championships in San Diego! Everyone at ACS Construction Group wishes Sam, and all of Team England the best of luck for the tournament.

They begin the competition with a grudge match against Australia on the 22nd June and go on to play USA, Canada and the Haudenosaunee Nations before the playoff games.

Sam started playing lacrosse when he was six years old, following in the footsteps of his older brother and sister.

He said: “At first, I didn’t enjoy it and wanted to play football, but my parents couldn’t  take us to different venues every Saturday morning, so I had to tag along. However, I must have been OK at the sport because I went on to represent my county at every age group before being selected as captain for the England u19 team for the 2012 World Championships. I quickly made the jump to the senior England team where I went to the 2014 World Championships in Denver and the 2016 European Championships in Budapest, where we won the gold medal. After being selected for the 2018 World Championships in Israel, I made the decision to move to Australia and take a break from the England set up. Upon returning to the UK in 2022, I was once again selected for Team England.”

ACS have helped Sam where they can throughout his sporting career, as Lacrosse in England receives no funding from the government and is completely self-funded by the players.

Sam added: “Without ACS, I wouldn’t have been able to go to San Diego. They have provided me with an extremely generous sponsorship, and they have also been great in providing me the extra time off required for me to attend the tournament. I consider myself very lucky to work for a company who put their people first. Our owners, Danny and Paul, both appreciate sport and did not want me to miss out on this great opportunity because of work commitments, which I’m extremely thankful for.”

Best of luck, Sam and Team England!
