A successful 2020 despite the effects of COVID-19

ACS Construction Group has enjoyed a prosperous and positive 2020 despite the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of our key highlights include Key Worker Status in Energy & Utilities, growth for our groundwork’s division, a new appointment to our Board of Directors and our 20 year anniversary.

Key Worker Status in energy and utilities

Our Energy & Utilities division has performed exceptionally well throughout the course of the year. Due to the nature of our clients and projects that we work on in this sector, we were granted Key Worker Status. This meant that we could continue to operate and deliver works across the majority of our sites during the national lockdown. That was also coupled with being awarded a place on a civils framework for SSE and several new client acquisitions whom we are excited to work with in 2021.

Growth for Groundwork’s division

In the Midlands, ACS Groundworks, our earthworks and land remediation division, has continued to grow. We have delivered several projects for St Modwen in Wantage and Llanwern and for Citrus Developments on their Integra 61 development in Bowburn near Durham.

Brendan Mooney appointed to Board of Directors

We pride ourselves on being a people-first business and we invest heavily in our talented and dynamic team. A significant highlight for 2020 is the recent appointment of Brendan Mooney to the Board of Directors.

Upon gaining a HND in Civil Engineering, Brendan began his career as a Site Engineer and then quickly progressed to become a Site Manager for a main contractor, where he spent nine and a half years. Brendan then embarked on a part-time BSc Construction Project Management degree at the University of Salford.

After obtaining his degree in 2006, Brendan joined ACS Construction Group as a Contracts Manager. Brendan has significant experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously across the UK for clients including National Grid, Centrica and SSE.

During his career at ACS, Brendan has worked in various sectors including education, healthcare and more recently he has played a key role in the growth of our Energy and Utilities division. This has involved working in high risk environments such as National Grid Electrical Sub Stations and Gas Terminals, the North Sea Link project at Blyth and delivering high voltage electric vehicle charging points for our partner, FastNed.

ACS celebrates 20 year anniversary

ACS Construction Group started out as a humble subcontractor 20 years ago and we now offer the complete construction solution through 5 dedicated divisions – Construction, Developments, Contracting, Energy and Utilities and Groundworks. Watch our 20 year anniversary video for more information.

Paul Grady, Managing Director, “When Danny Doohan and I founded the company 20 years ago, our objective was to build a successful business that placed a strong emphasis on ensuring that every member of staff has the relevant tools, training and investment to be the best that they possibly can be. Our journey over the past two decades has been exciting, varied and built upon calculated growth. With the recent additions to the board and the existing team in place, we are geared up for continued success over the next 20 years.

2020 has proven to be challenging for many companies and I am thankful that we are leaving the year in a stronger position than we entered it, which is credit to everyone who works at ACS Construction Group. We will continue to strive to develop in 2021, our pipeline of projects looks strong and operationally we will continue to place health and safety at the forefront of everything we do.”
