ACS Construction Group has announced significant growth over the last 12 months. A collection of new client wins has resulted in the appointment of three new directors and expansion across its operations with the addition of two new office locations and multiple investments in new plant machinery.
Over the past year, ACS Construction Group has secured projects with Mitsubishi Electric Europe in Blyth as part of the North Sea Link project for National Grid, Citrus Developments on the Integra 61 scheme in Durham, Legal and General Assurance Ltd in Northampton and a road infrastructure project with St Modwen’s in Oxford.
To support the new projects, ACS has expanded its national reach from its Cheshire based headquarters by opening two new offices across the country. The Yorkshire and North East office, based in Wakefield, opened to offer support on projects on the eastern side of the UK. To support with Southern projects, Ashley Pyne and Sean Power have been appointed to lead the Midlands office in Longbridge. Previously part of the team at Hawk contracts division, they bring with them a wealth of experience in bulk earthworks and land remediation projects.
Three new directors, Martin Deignan, Paul Howard and Dave Curran have been appointed to support the company’s expansion together with long-term directors’ Paul Grady (Managing Director) and Danny Doohan (Operations Director).
Martin began his career with ACS in Oct 2002 and his worked his way through the ranks. Martin was initially solely responsible for office management, the procurement of materials and hired in plant required on all construction sites. He quickly progressed to become the Company Secretary (Financial Director) and main point of contact.
Completing MAAT studies in 2010 to become a qualified management accountant, Martin’s main responsibility now is to assist in the financial management of the company after developing a rounded skill set from exposure to all areas of the business. Martin is dedicated to the company, its core values and he continues to contribute to the growth of ACS.
Paul Howard has worked entirely on the contracting side of the industry, learning his trade working on a variety of schemes within the public and private sectors throughout the North West. It was during this period that Paul gained construction knowledge and management skills.
In 2008 Paul joined ACS, since then the company has continued to benefit from his very hands-on approach to each project. Paul’s approach remains an integral part of the business strategy. The desire, motivation and technical professionalism Paul possesses form the core delivery principal’s he looks to implement within the Group.
Heading up the commercial and energy side of the business is Commercial Director, Dave Curran. A graduate of the University of Salford, Dave began his career at AMEC Civil Engineering before moving on to Bethell Construction where he worked his way up to Commercial Director. Dave has been with the company since May 2010 and has been an essential team member in securing long term framework contracts with the likes of National Grid, SSE and Centrica.
Alongside national expansion, the ACS Construction Group fleet is continuing to grow with nine new plant purchases this year. Maintaining its relationship with Hitachi Plant Machinery and a local Thwaites dealership, ACS Construction Group is committed to operating a modern fleet with the best safety features for its workforce.

ACS Construction Group has recently been recognised as a leader in the construction industry by the Investors in People (IIP) Gold standard accreditation. An international standard that assesses companies on people management and development, the IIP has awarded the Group the Gold standard accreditation for the third consecutive year.
Furthermore, ACS were shortlisted for the Employer of the Year (North West): Gold (50 to 249 people) Award at the national Investors in People Awards 2019 held on the 19th November at the Old Billingsgate, London.
For ACS Construction, 2020 looks set to continue in the same mould as 2019 has, with the group already securing a healthy pipeline of works for the year with existing and new clients.
